VETERANS AT WORK CERTIFICATE

The Veterans at Work Certificate program—developed for HR professionals, hiring managers and front-line supervisors—is a multifaceted program from the SHRM Foundation and brought to you with generous support from Comcast NBCUniversal. This program is specifically designed to equip you with the actionable knowledge and tools needed to attract, hire and retain veterans and members of the military community in the workplace.

The SHRM Foundation Veterans at Work Certificate program is completely free and open to all. You do not need to be a SHRM member, and you do not need to hold a SHRM credential to engage with the content, take the course and earn the Veterans at Work certificate.

You can register for this certificate program at HERE

HIRING OUR HEROES

Explore the tremendous value that veterans and military spouses can bring to your company by participating in HOH's Fellowship Programs. These programs provide transitioning service members, veterans, military spouses, and military caregivers with professional training and hands-on experience in the civilian workforce, expanding corporate America’s understanding of the military community and providing a pipeline of that talent into civilian careers.  Find out more HERE.

WORKEX INTERNSHIP

Hiring a transitioning service member through an internship allows you to find skilled, valuable employees to help your business succeed.  The WorkEx program allows eligible active duty transitioning service members and military spouses (as funding is available) to participate in a 4-12 week (up to 180 days with chain of command approval) hands-on work based learning opportunity with a  host employer (local or remote) to bridge the gap in skills and experience needed to land a full-time career opportunity within the civilian workforce.  Find out more HERE.

WORK OPPORTUNITY TAX CREDIT (WOTC)

The WOTC is a tax incentive for employers to hire certain hard-to-place job seekers. The goal is to help these individuals become economically self-sufficient and to reward employers who give them a chance.

Employers can reduce their federal business taxes by anywhere from $2,400 to $9,600 per eligible employee. The amount employers get is based on:

  • The employee's target group
  • Wages earned and hours worked by the employee

Employers cannot claim the WOTC for:

  • Relatives
  • Former employees
  • Undocumented noncitizen
